Reflections is my debut recording and I have enjoyed every aspect of putting it together. I am very excited to introduce a couple of new substantial works by two of Canada’s most respected composers. Gary Kulesha’s new Sonata for Trombone and Piano is eerie, intricate and, at times, epic. Ian McDougall shows his complete understanding of the trombone with beautiful, spacious writing in his Concertino for Trombone and Piano. The remaining works on the CD are extremely varied in nature and have all had an impact on my career at one point or another. This recording is a reflection of my life as a trombonist and a musician. I have had the privilege to learn from many exceptional musicians and they are all represented here in one form or another. I am grateful to each and every one of them.

This recording was made possible through the assistance of the Music Section of the Canada Council for the Arts. We would also like to acknowledge funding support from the Ontario Arts Council, an agency of the Government of Ontario
